The Inside Scoop on Live Lesson Insights in Ozobot Classroom

The launch of Ozobot Classroom comes with many exciting, educator-friendly features for a connected classroom experience. Ozobot Classroom is a no-cost STEAM software platform that makes it easy for educators to integrate coding and computer science with Evo robots into lessons for any subject and any grade level–with features that include interactive teacher training, single-click device setup, boosted Bluetooth connectivity, and unlimited lessons K-12 lessons with Live Lesson Insights. Evo is the first robot to track student progress and engagement for activities completed offline. Educators can maintain a screen-free coding environment for students while still receiving valuable real-time information!

Live Lesson Insights track online and offline engagement as students complete lessons using Evo. Evo’s Bluetooth capabilities allow the robot to send updates and insights directly to your educator dashboard in Classroom to see how students are progressing through a lesson and what their Evos are doing.

Ozobot Classroom’s Classes section and Live Lesson Insights features are currently in beta. Before we finalize which Live Lesson Insights we make available to educators, we want YOUR feedback! As you complete lessons with the current Live Lesson Insights, we want to hear what you like, what you don’t like, and what you think would bring more value for your students. Use the feedback button on the right-hand side of your screen (and don’t hold back!).

Read on for information about what to expect from Live Lesson Insights in beta.

Two Types of Live Lesson Insights in Classes (Beta):

1. Basic Live Lesson Insights

Basic Live Lesson Insights for Color Codes lessons:

  • Class time spent on a lesson
  • Which Color Codes students used in a lesson
  • Color Code most commonly used by a class
  • Number of academic standards the lesson met

Basic Live Lesson Insights for OzoBlockly lessons:

  • Class time spent on a lesson
  • Which OzoBlockly blocks students used in an activity
  • Most commonly block
  • Number of academic standards the lesson met

Many of our lessons from our existing Lesson Library provide these basic insights, but will eventually be integrated with the full suite of Lesson Insights.

2. Full Live Lesson Insights

Our Core Coding Curriculum was created to be provide Full Live Lesson Insights. This means that in addition to the Basic Live Lesson Insights above, you will receive information about what step of a lesson your students are on and whether or not they are completing an activity successfully. This feature may or may not reflect the true completion rate for your class right now, as we’re working to innovate and make improvements with feedback from the community.

Over time, more and more lessons will be fully compatible with Live Lesson Insights. In the meantime, we want your feedback about what information is helpful (or not helpful!) and what insights you’d like to see added.

Evo can report all kinds of information for screen-free activities, including what Color Codes are being read, time spent on a lesson, whether a student has solved an activity correctly, and more. Currently, a limited number of Live Lesson Insights are being reported, but we want to hear from YOU (the educators!) about what statistics are most beneficial to you as you integrate coding and STEAM in your classroom with Evo.

Live Lesson Insight Compatibility: Can You Test Them in Beta?

Tell us which robots you have and what device your students use, and we’ll let you know if you can try Live Lesson Insights.

I have Evos + student Chromebooks

Color Code Live Lesson Insights: YES
OzoBlockly Live Lesson Insights (Coming Soon): YES

Great news! You can receive Live Lesson Insights for any Ozobot Lesson Library activity your students complete. To launch a lesson with your students:

  2. Request a Classroom Communicator if one did not come with your Evos
  3. Create a Class
  4. Save Lessons from the Lesson Library
  5. Add Saved Lessons to Class
  6. Connect/update Evos/Communicator
  7. Launch Lesson in Classes

I have Evos + student tablets/desktop computers/non-Chromebook laptops
