Is My Device Code-patible? Ozobot Recommended Devices

Below you’ll find compatible devices and minimum system requirements for all Ozobot robots and software, including recommended teacher computers, students devices, and smartphones for keeping the STEAM learning going at home.

For School

Teacher Tools & Devices

Ozobot Classroom (Beta): Ozobot’s STEAM learning management system connects to Ozobot Evo robots for battery and bot management, student assignments and lesson summaries, and real-time information about student progress and engagement. Classroom supports Bluetooth-enabled computers with the Google Chrome browser installed, including computers with Bluetooth 4.0 or later running these operating systems:

  • Chrome OS
  • Mac OS X
  • Windows 10 on select computers*

*Windows 7 and 8 do not support many BLE-connected features. Windows 10 supports BLE-connected features only on select computers, due to inconsistent hardware/software implementation among computer manufacturers. We are currently exploring a workaround for Windows 10 users.

Hey, what about Bit?
Ozobot Bit users can still create an Ozobot Classroom account to explore, save, and create lessons; access help and guides; and watch super cool videos! Bit users won’t be able to connect their bots for Classroom’s full set of features, including students’ real-time information and lesson summaries. In other words, if you have Bit go ahead and create that Ozobot Classroom account and enjoy. But next time you need to re-up on bots, consider Evo!

Evo App: Depending on your Classroom Kit and when you bought it, you may be prompted to use the Evo app to update your bots’ firmware and name them. In this case, see recommended devices for using the Evo app in the For Home section below.

Student Devices

OzoBlockly: For coding with OzoBlockly, students can use tablets with the Evo app installed or computers (incl. Chromebooks) with web browsers. The following technology works best with OzoBlockly:

  • All modern browsers
  • iPad 3 and newer
  • Android tablets

For Home

At-home coders, the simplest way to see if your device is compatible with an Ozobot product is to search for and install an Ozobot app. If your device cannot find and install a particular Ozobot app from an official app store (App Store or Google Play), your device will not support that product. See below for details on specific apps and products for the next generation of creators!

Evo Recommended Devices

Evo App: Evo doesn’t require a device to empower creativity and coding. You can always go screen-free and code Evo with Color Code markers and stickers. Evo’s app, however, enhances play and opens up a world of avatars, games, and inspiration for Ozobot’s two ways to code. The Evo app is compatible with most iOS and Android devices with these specs or higher:

  • iOS 8.0, 1GB RAM (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch)
  • Android 5.0, 2GB RAM
  • Bluetooth 4.0

The following devices have been tested and confirmed to work with Evo and the Evo app:

  • iPhone 6 and newer
  • iPad 4 and newer
  • Samsung Galaxy 6 and newer
  • Google Pixel 1 and newer

Evo and OzoBlockly: OzoBlockly is an editor you can use to create programs for Evo. Powered by Google’s Blockly, OzoBlockly has five skill levels for beginner to master coders. To program Evo with OzoBlockly, you’ll need a tablet with the Evo app or a computer with a web browser.

The following technology works best with the OzoBlockly:

  • All modern browsers
  • iPads
  • Android tablets

Bit Recommended Devices

Bit and OzoBlockly: Bit doesn’t require a computer or tablet to empower creativity and coding. You can always go screen-free and code Bit with Color Code markers and stickers. To program Bit with OzoBlockly, however, you’ll need a computer or tablet with a web browser.

The following technology works best with the OzoBlockly web editor:

  • All modern browsers
  • iPads
  • Android tablets

Bit Apps: There are also a few Ozobot apps, including Ozobot Bit Groove, for use with Bit. Note: your device will not connect to Bit when you use this app; only Evo has Bluetooth. But Bit will interact with your device’s screen, just like it reads lines and Color Codes on paper. To use the Ozobot Bit Groove app with Bit, you’ll need an iPad or tablet with these specs:

  • 1920 x 1080 screen resolution or higher
